Vintage Zuni Squash Blossom Necklace – Valentino & Matilda Banteah – 1975
A substantial silver and turquoise squash blossom necklace by Valentino and Matilda Banteah, signed V.M.B. on the reverse.
Twelve squash blossom ornaments frame a large Naja pendant, with turquoise cabochons arranged in the intricate cluster settings characteristic of Zuni jewelry. Carefully matched stones create a balanced composition, complemented by a strand of silver beads.
Valentino Banteah’s silverwork and Matilda Banteah’s stone cutting and setting come together in a distinctive example of their collaborative craftsmanship.
