Vintage Nubian Silver Cuff Bracelet – Egypt / Sudan
A substantial vintage Nubian silver cuff bracelet, attributed to the Nile Valley region between southern Egypt and Sudan.
The bracelet has a simple, solid rounded form with two slightly flattened terminals decorated with small geometric cross-shaped motifs and punched ornament.
Much of the original engraved decoration on the body has become faint through prolonged wear, giving the bracelet a smooth, softened surface and strong sense of age. The bracelet is not perfectly oval, which is consistent with handmade construction and long use.
It has been gently cleaned to restore some of the natural lustre of the silver while retaining its age-related character.

Origin & Dating
Nubia – southern Egypt / Sudan, Northeast Africa
The form and construction are consistent with traditional Nubian silver bracelets associated with the communities of southern Egypt and northern Sudan.
The piece is probably first half to mid-20th century.
Cultural Context
Nubian silver jewelry forms part of the broader jewelry traditions of the Nile Valley and Northeast Africa, where substantial silver bangles and cuffs were worn both as ornament and as portable personal wealth.
The decoration on this bracelet is now heavily softened by wear, but the surviving punched motifs on the terminals remain clearly visible.
Condition
Vintage condition with significant evidence of prolonged wear.
The engraved decoration on the body is largely worn and partially erased. There are surface scratches, small marks, softened edges and irregularities from age and use.
Wearing & Conservation
A substantial but relatively narrow cuff, suitable for wearing alone or with other silver bracelets.
Because this is an old solid bracelet, repeated bending or reshaping should be avoided.
For fit, compare the 6.3 cm inner diameter, 18.2 cm inner circumference and 1.9 cm opening with an open bracelet that already fits comfortably.
