Silver Fibula from Algeria Chaouia People
This beautiful silver fibula was worn by a woman from the Chaoui tribe in the Aurès Mountains in Algeria.
This fibula is quite large. It is circular with 3 engraved fleurons. A hole at the bottom of the piece was used to connect the two fibulae of the woman's dress.
The fibula was worn as a brooch or as a pin to attach a cape to a dress.
This jewel is ancient. It was brought to France from Algeria and is in a private collection.
Condition: The piece is in good condition, with no missing parts or repairs.
Reference: The "Musée Ethnographique du Quai Branly" (Ethnographic Museum) in Päris has a pair of very similar fibulae (71.1899.30.86.1-2)
