Silver Fibula from Algeria Monts des Aurès
This originally designed fibula was worn by an Algerian woman who probably lived in the Aurès Mountains.
This ancient ethnic jewel is in the shape of a triangle with slightly curved sides. It is decorated with scrolls of foliage and a small protuberance in the centre, which probably resembles a chameleon's eye.
The lower part of the fibula is pierced. This hole was used to connect the two fibulae, which were worn on the chest to hold a shawl, with a cord or chain.
