Silver Fibula from Algeria Monts des Aurès

Sale price€ 49

This originally designed fibula was worn by an Algerian woman who probably lived in the Aurès Mountains

This ancient ethnic jewel is in the shape of a triangle with slightly curved sides. It is decorated with scrolls of foliage and a small protuberance in the centre, which probably resembles a chameleon's eye.

The lower part of the fibula is pierced. This hole was used to connect the two fibulae, which were worn on the chest to hold a shawl, with a cord or chain.
