Kabyle Beni Yenni silver bracelet
This Berber hinged enamelled cuff bracelet is very old. From Great Kabylia in Algeria. Circa 1950. Excellent workmanship. Collectors item. This bracelet is made of silver with polychrome cloisonné enamel and red natural Mediterranean coral cabochons.
Beni Yenni Berber tribe, worn on the day of the wedding and then on all major religious or family occasions. The Kabyle girl receives these jewels at the time of her marriage. They are bought by her parents thanks to the dowry paid by the fiancé's parents: diadem, earrings, bracelets, anklets, big fibulae, necklaces.
This bracelet is suitable for a small wrist as the opening is quite small when the bracelet is open.
Condition: This bracelet has been worn extensively and the enamel decoration is almost gone. There is also a small silver rosette which is incomplete at the hinge. The pin that closes the bracelet is not the original. A coral cabochon has been replaced by a red synthetic cabochon.
