Antique Tibetan Tinder Pouch with Fire Striker – Leather & Bronze

An antique Tibetan tinder pouch combining aged leather, openwork bronze mounts and a forged iron fire striker. Traditionally carried at the belt, such pouches held tinder for catching sparks and formed part of everyday Himalayan travelling equipment.

The dark, patinated leather contrasts with the pierced scrollwork of the metal decoration. The pouch opens and retains traces of dried plant material, possibly remnants of tinder. A carrying handle in a brass/copper alloy completes the construction.

Condition
Good antique condition, with wear to the iron striker and a developed patina on the original leather. The carrying handle is sound. One small fastening element securing a bronze decorative plate is missing; the plate remains stable. Traces of dried plant material remain inside the pouch.
