Antique Omani Silver Hirz Amulet Necklace – Talisman Box – Oman Jewelry
Antique Omani hirz amulet necklace, dating from the first half of the 20th century.
The rectangular silver talisman box is richly worked with applied geometric ornament, rows of raised dots and stamped decoration. It is suspended from double silver chains and finished with articulated chains ending in small diamond-shaped pendants.
Hirz amulets were protective objects intended to contain a folded prayer, Quranic verse or talismanic text. This example remains firmly sealed, preserving its original contents undisturbed.
Materials & Construction
Acid-tested silver, estimated at approximately 800‰ or higher. Handmade box construction with applied and stamped decoration, double chain suspension and articulated silver pendants.
Origin & Period
Oman, first half of the 20th century. Closely related rectangular hirz amulets are documented in museum collections of traditional Omani silverwork.

Condition
Good antique condition with surface wear and patina consistent with age. One pendant is missing. The box remains sealed and the chains and suspension elements are functional.
