Antique stunning Kabyle silver and coral necklace called Azrar
Very rare antique necklace from Algeria (Kabylie - Great Kabylia). This Berber necklace was worn by a woman of the Ait Yenni tribe at weddings and parties. This antique Kabylie necklace is very long and heavy. The Amazigh name for this necklace is Azrar. A real old Algerian necklace.
The design is very simple : 2 silver chains and silver beads between the chains. Pendants are hung on one side. This necklace consists of 22 pendants (or charms). Each pendant is decorated with a coral cabochon.
The rope between the beads is very old, and you may need to replace the rope on this necklace if you want to wear it. I preferred to leave it as it is to preserve its authenticity.
Museum or book reference : a very similar necklace in the book "World of necklaces" by Anne Leurquin page 36 and 37 on the French edition.
